BDO Jordan and BDO Iraq Participated in the 2025 BDO Middle East Conference in Bucharest

BDO Jordan and BDO Iraq participated in the 2025 BDO Middle East Conference, which was held in Bucharest, Romania, from Wednesday, 21 May to Friday, 23 May 2025. The conference served as a platform for strategic dialogue among BDO firms across the region and beyond, with a focus on shaping the direction of regional and global collaboration under the theme “Our Future Together.”

This year’s event built on the outcomes of the 2024 conference hosted in Amman by BDO Jordan, which marked a milestone in reinforcing regional cooperation. Since the inaugural BDO Middle East Conference in 1975, the series has played a critical role in strengthening relationships and fostering alignment across the Middle East, North Africa, Eastern Europe, Sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia, and other emerging markets. Previous conferences in Riyadh (2023), Casablanca (2022), Sharm El-Sheikh (2021), and Beirut laid a strong foundation for continued integration and joint development.

The 2025 conference centered on how BDO firms can collectively evolve to meet future challenges and opportunities, particularly looking ahead to 2030. Many member firms had already been engaged in high-value, cross-border initiatives and shared service projects, driven by a common vision and a commitment to mutual leadership. Discussions during the conference aimed to move beyond bilateral cooperation and toward multi-firm strategic platforms that support innovation, resilience, and long-term growth.

A new feature introduced at this year’s conference was a dedicated Managing Partners’ meeting, structured to enable candid, results-oriented discussions on joint initiatives and regional priorities. The development of sector-specific capabilities—particularly within Financial Services—was also a focal point, building on contributions from BDO Germany and previous leadership in the region. Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) considerations remained central to the agenda, with sessions dedicated to advancing BDO’s Net Zero objectives and enhancing the network’s advisory services in sustainability.
The format of the conference emphasized dialogue and exchange, with plenary sessions designed to encourage shared insight and alignment among participating firms. Rather than relying on one-way presentations, the conference prioritized interactive discussions aimed at deepening understanding and strengthening collaborative strategies.

BDO Jordan and BDO Iraq were represented by Managing Partner Mr. Rami Samman, Dr. Jawad Al Shehili of BDO Iraq, Dr. Jamal Taraireh, Partner of Financial Advisory Services, Eng. Azzam Hamaideh, Partner of Technical and Management Consulting Services, and Mr. Jafar Alqaryouti, Partner of Business and Technology Consulting. Their engagement contributed to the ongoing exchange of expertise and strategic perspectives among BDO firms.

The conference also featured key contributions from global BDO leaders, including keynote speaker Trond-Morten Lindberg, and benefited from the support and organization of Cristian Iliescu and the BDO Romania team. The event continued the legacy of collaboration and innovation that defines the BDO Middle East network and supported the ongoing development of integrated, cross-border service delivery.
