A Deep Dive into ESG Practices

Amman, Jordan – October 23, 2024 – BDO Jordan, a leading audit, tax and business advisory firm, in partnership with the Green Building Council, successfully hosted Green Podium, a significant event dedicated to exploring the intricacies of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices in business and financial management.

Held at the Amman Chamber of Commerce on October 23, 2024, Green Podium attracted attendees from diverse sectors, including business leaders, financial professionals, sustainability experts, and government officials. The event provided a valuable platform for networking, knowledge sharing, and exploring the latest trends in ESG.

The event commenced with an opening speech by Eng. Shefa Khatatbeh, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Green Building Council, who emphasized the growing importance of ESG in today's business landscape. Following this, Eng. Azzam Hamaideh, Advisory Partner at BDO Jordan, delivered a keynote address that provided a comprehensive overview of ESG concepts and their relevance to businesses. Eng. Hamaideh introduced BDO Jordan's services and highlighted the firm's efforts to improve sustainability, including the establishment of the GSS department and the firm's journey in sustainability. He further discussed BDO Jordan's enthusiasm for partnerships with organizations in different sectors that are interested in green services and sustainability.

The first session focused on a technical perspective of corporate sustainability, presented by Eng. Ameer Mubaslat, Business and Sustainability Consultant at BDO Jordan's Green and Sustainability Services (GSS) department. Mubaslat delved into the practical aspects of implementing ESG strategies, including environmental impact assessments, social responsibility initiatives, and governance frameworks.
In the second session, Mr. Ahmad Abu Shaheen, Assistant Manager of Financial Advisory at BDO Jordan, discussed the financial implications of ESG practices. Shaheen explored how ESG factors can impact financial performance, risk management, and investor relations.

The event concluded with an interactive Q&A session, followed by a coffee break and networking opportunity. Green Podium showcased BDO Jordan's commitment to promoting sustainability and establishing a strong Green and Sustainability Services department.
