BDO Jordan and Universiti Malaya Sign Cooperation Agreement on Islamic FinTech

Amman – BDO Jordan and Universiti Malaya have signed a cooperation agreement to conduct specialized studies in Islamic financial technology (Islamic FinTech) and develop innovative digital solutions aimed at improving the management, collection, and distribution of zakat and waqf funds.

The agreement was signed, at BDO Jordan main office in Amman, by Mr. Rami Samman, Executive Partner at BDO Jordan, and Prof. Dr. Mohd Fauzi Bin Hamat, Dean of the Academy of Islamic Studies at Universiti Malaya.

The signing was attended by Dr. Majed Fawzi Abu-Ghazalah, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Shariah and Management at Universiti Malaya, and Dr. Wafa Abu Samra, Director of Consulting Services at BDO Jordan.

Commenting on the agreement, Mr. Samman said: “This collaboration brings together Universiti Malaya’s specialized academic expertise and BDO Jordan’s professional and sectoral experience. Through this partnership, we aim to develop practical studies and solutions that apply technology responsibly to improve the management of zakat and waqf funds while strengthening transparency, governance, and compliance with Shariah principles.”

The collaboration will explore the use of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence and blockchain, while facilitating knowledge exchange and joint research to advance innovation in Islamic finance in line with international best practices.

BDO Jordan provides specialized services to the banking and FinTech sectors, including audit, regulatory and technology advisory, risk and compliance, internal audit, and systems and controls reviews. These services support financial institutions in responding to technological developments and strengthening the efficiency and reliability of their operations.
