BDO Jordan Hosts 4 Workshops with Pilot Ministries to Advance Gender Analysis under GRB
Amman, Jordan – June 2025 — Under the project “Providing Technical Support to Four Ministries on Programme Gender Analysis Tools and Conducting the Analysis of Specified Programmes”, BDO Jordan, in collaboration with UN Women Jordan, has conducted a series of Report Review Workshops with four pilot ministries: the Ministry of Health (MoH), Ministry of Education (MoE), Ministry of Labour (MoL), and Ministry of Political and Parliamentary Affairs (MoPPA). The project is funded by the Agence Française de Développement (AFD).
This assignment forms part of the "Gender Responsive Budgeting for Advancing Gender Equality in Jordan (GRB)" initiative and aims to significantly improve the Programme Gender Analysis Methodology currently utilized by the ministries. The project is designed to help institutionalize gender-responsive planning and budgeting processes that contribute to more inclusive public policies and programmes.
The recent workshops served as a key milestone in the project, offering a platform to review and validate the draft gender analysis reports prepared for each ministry. Led by BDO Jordan’s Project Manager, Gender Expert, and Consulting Team, in full collaboration with and with valuable contributions from the UN Women project team, the workshops brought together focal points and technical staff from each ministry’s gender and women’s affairs units. Participants discussed the analysis of gender status at both the institutional and programme levels and provided critical feedback to enhance the robustness and relevance of the findings.
An integral part of the project was the testing and contextualization of the updated Programme Gender Analysis Methodology, which was originally developed by UN Women and subsequently revised and enhanced by BDO Jordan. This updated methodology includes refined guiding questions, procedural steps, and Standard Operating Procedures (SoPs), and is designed to strengthen ministries’ capacity to identify existing gender gaps and assess the effectiveness of their gender mainstreaming policies and mechanisms.
The workshops also contributed to the development of tailored recommendations for each ministry, including proposed interventions, gender-sensitive indicators, and other key elements.
BDO Jordan expresses its appreciation to UN Women Jordan and the participating ministries for their continuous collaboration, constructive engagement, and commitment to advancing gender equality in Jordan. The project is expected to conclude by the end of June 2025.
