GRI Advances Pollution Reporting Standards: Public Consultation Now Open
The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) has launched the public consultation phase for its updated and new standards addressing air pollution, soil pollution, and critical incidents, representing a significant step in advancing environmental disclosure practices globally.
BDO is engaged in this process through its contribution to the development of these standards, with Engineer Azzam Hamaideh, Advisory Partner, serving as the Middle East representative. This engagement supports the integration of regional insights into the development of globally applicable and practical reporting frameworks.
The proposed standards introduce more comprehensive and structured approaches to pollution reporting, aiming to enhance transparency, comparability, and accountability across organizations and sectors.
