Jafar Alqaryouti is Partner – Business and Technology Consulting, leading the Business and Technology Consulting practice across Jordan and Iraq. He brings more than 28 years of experience in digital transformation, IT governance, cybersecurity, business process assurance and technology risk advisory.
Before joining BDO, Jafar served for 20 years as Senior Director at EY Baghdad and began his career at the Royal Scientific Society in Jordan. His experience covers complex IT audits, operational audits, IT strategy development, ERP selection, cybersecurity frameworks, ISO 27001, ISO 22301 and core banking transformation.
Since joining BDO, Jafar has led a significant portfolio of awarded banking and financial-sector advisory engagements in Iraq. These include CBI reform-related operational audit assessments, technical audit assessments, cybersecurity and digital risk reviews, AML/CFT advisory, remediation implementation and regulatory transformation support across several Iraqi banks.
His recent work includes major engagements for Investment Bank of Iraq, Kurdistan International Islamic Bank, Al Janoob Islamic Bank, Economy Bank, Credit Bank of Iraq, National Islamic Bank, Almustashar Islamic Bank, AlMousal Bank, Cihan Bank and Bank Al Etihad, in addition to strategy and corporate finance advisory for the establishment of a reinsurance company in Iraq.
Jafar has also played a key role in the modernization of Iraq’s banking sector. His work includes leading SWIFT Customer Security Program framework assessments for the Central Bank of Iraq, covering more than 50 public and private banks, as well as directing core banking system selection and PMO establishment for major Iraqi financial institutions.
